She was also read a lovely poem by PTA VP Deana Bridgman (see below). Smiles and tears filled the room but mostly.... best wishes upon her well earned retirement!

January PTA Meeting: Mr. Manfredi was honored and recognized by our PTA and received flowers, a certificate of appreciation, a book dedicated in his name to our library and another certificate which compares him to "The Greats" (see below).            MEET EMK's NEWEST STAFF MEMBERS

                                                Meet Mr. Stinard!

Dear McKnight Families,

I wanted to take the time to introduce myself to you.  My name is Marques Stanard and it is my pleasure to serve as the new assistant principal of Ethel McKnight Elementary School.  For the past seven years, I was a science teacher in the Lawnside School District in Lawnside, New Jersey.   I have a degree in Biology from Hampton University and a Masters in School Leadership from Wilmington University.

My educational philosophy is that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially.  It is my desire as an educator to help students and staff meet their fullest potential in these areas by helping to provide an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas.

During my short time here at McKnight, I understand why the students enjoy coming to school every day. The energy that the students bring into the building challenges the staff to develop new and dynamic lessons to feed their hunger for learning.  The relationship between the teachers, support staff, and administration has created an environment that is conducive to learning.

I look forward to the opportunity of meeting with you as we move through the remainder of the school year.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Marques Stanard

Assistant Principal

                                                          Meet Ms. Pinho!

Currently, I am earning my masters in Special Education.  In addition to this, I am a Special Olympics Track Coach and have worked immensely with students with multiple disabilities.  Also, I used to write for a newspaper and have incorporated that into teaching.  Because I have such a strong passion for writing, I decided to start the school newspaper at Ethel McKnight.  In the first issue, writers, artists and photographers from Mr. Lee's fifth grade class will be featured as they have been working very hard to complete the very first newspaper at Ethel McKnight.  Mrs. Carroll, another first grade teacher, has been assisting me in the newspaper club.

When I have spare time, I love to spend time with my four dogs, two shih tzu's, an english bulldog and a lhapso/bichon. They always make me smile!  I also LOVE to travel.  Most of my family live in Portugal and I love spending summers there.  In addition to this, I have traveled cross country three times and love to camp, kayak and be outdoors!  I also love to exercise, especially running, as well as dancing.  In the summers I love to travel down the shore to spend time with my family in Wildwood, NJ. Lastly, most of my students know that I am a devout Philadelphia Sports fan.  I love going to the Eagles game and cheering on my Phillies!  :)
